Join us as we decipher the symbols of ancient gravestones.

The gravestones of our ancestors are filled with symbols and emblems, representing a type of shorthand. Some of our ancestors were illiterate and could not read lengthy texts on the monuments, so they used symbols. However, this symbolic language has been lost over time.

We will resurrect this lost language and learn how to interpret the cryptic signs and symbols found on the monuments of the dearly departed. We will view photos of actual gravestones and monuments taken by the author from all over the world and the related cemetery history. The discussion will also include proper etiquette when visiting these sacred locations. This presentation will feature a little history, a lot of symbolism and a little humor.
