Join AARP fraud expert Doug Shadel for a free webinar focused on detecting and preventing fraud against older adults. Scammers are only getting more savvy in their techniques and the best way to spot a scam is to know what to look for. During this one-hour interactive session, Shadel will take you inside the scammer’s mind, share red flags for detecting scams and offer tips on how to harden the target to prevent them in the first place.
Shadel has co-authored a number of books and studies on detecting and preventing financial exploitation. He wrote a column for AARP The Magazine for five years entitled “Outsmart Fraud.” Shadel previously served as the strategy director for AARP Fraud Watch Network and for almost 20 years, as state director for AARP Washington. Prior to that, he was a special assistant attorney general and investigator in the Office of the Attorney General in Washington state. Shadel has also testified as an expert witness for the U.S. Department of Justice. He currently serves as managing director for Fraud Prevention Strategies, LLC, a Seattle-based consulting firm
