Better Balance Boot Camp: Week 2
Learn how to lower your risk of falling and improve your balance skills!
Balance is a skill that needs to be practiced as we age. In this 4-week boot camp, fitness trainer Sally Saenger will share simple and safe ways to improve your balance and mobility. Through discussion and practical application, you’ll learn important tips to lower your risk of falling and exercises that you can do safely at home. After completing the boot camp, you’ll receive a Better Balance Plan worksheet and a certificate of completion. Dress comfortably for light exercise.

Week 2: Balance Examined
This week, we’ll take a closer look at balance, including the concept of “perturbation”—how unexpected disruptions can challenge your stability. We’ll discuss strategies to improve your response to these disturbances and practice exercises that enhance your balance.
*Please note that registration is required for this virtual boot camp. Space is limited, so be sure to register early to secure your spot. Participants must attend at least three sessions to receive a certificate of completion.
Trainer Bio:
Sally Saenger, M.Ed,Sally Saenger, M.Ed, is a part-time faculty member at Santa Barbara City College, teaching swimming-for-fitness and senior wellness classes. She is also the Founder and Executive Director of LifelongFitness.org, an organization that focuses on senior fitness. Sally has been teaching and working in the fitness field for over four decades, focusing on the older adult population for most of her career. When she’s not teaching, Sally enjoys traveling and aquatic activities like surfing and swimming.
