This program about Moton High School in Farmville, Virginia, now the Robert Russa Moton Museum, provides a case study in the history of the battle to desegregate public schools.

Speaker Leah Brown, associate director for education and collections at the museum, will share the story of Moton High School and the students who protested their unequal educational facilities by walking out in 1951. The resulting lawsuit became part of the Supreme Court’s 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision stating that “separate but equal” was not acceptable in public education.
