Teens have always had a major impact on American society. However, it was not until the 1950s that "teenagers" were labeled as a group to market to. During this session, Teenagers in American Society: 1920-2024, we’ll compare the role of teenagers during the Great Depression and World II with that of teens of the 1950s and today. Depictions of teenagers in movies and television shows of the last 75 years will be analyzed.
The speaker is Professor Stephen Armstrong, a long-time social studies/history educator and administrator at the high school and college level.
