Art History: ‘Marie Laurencin: Sapphic Paris’

Take a virtual trip to the Barnes Foundation for the first major American exhibition dedicated to French artist Marie Laurencin in over 30 years.

REGISTER HERE

Presenting more than 50 works by Laurencin, the Barnes Foundation’s exhibit Marie Laurencin: Sapphic Paris examines how the French artist’s visualization of a “sapphic modernity” subtly but radically challenges existing narratives of modern European art.

A Barnes Foundation curator will explore Laurencin’s career and works, from her self-portraits and collaborative decorative projects to her early cubist paintings and signature works - feminine and discreetly queer - that defined 1920s Paris.
