During Black History Month, join AARP California for a three-part virtual series on hip hop’s impact on the health and wellness of people age 50-plus and their families. In Part 3, we’ll consider Hip Hop’s Effect on our Emotional, Psychological and Social Health and the value that hip hop brings to our civic and social participation.
Using music, media clips and more, Dr. Jaleel K. Abdul-Adil will lead us in discussions of the historical, cultural and wellness impacts of hip hop in mainstream America. Dr. Abdul-Adil is an associate professor of clinical psychology at the University of Illinois-Chicago and an expert on the use of modern rap music and hip-hop culture to enrich psychosocial interventions for urban youth.
Don’t miss the fun (and prizes!) as we learn together throughout February.
Sign in to your AARP.org account or create an account to register for events. AARP membership is not required. You will receive an email with the Zoom link before class.
