Take Pride in Your Money! LGBTQ+ Investing to Ignite Change

I am a gay man, and I have been out of the closet since adolescence. I have been with my husband for nearly 38 years, and I’ve been in the financial planning and investment advice field for about 30 years. I have a lot to say, and I am going to say it. I am not going to bite my tongue for anyone’s comfort. Not in the current political climate.

Money is power, and we LGBTQ people should use it wisely for ourselves, our community, our non-profit organizations, and the products and companies we support.

Saving and investing for yourself and your future is like voting for yourself. “Vote” for products and services that support you, and don’t “vote” for companies or individuals who oppose you and your rights. As we have seen lately, companies that have supported Pride Month events and the LGBTQ community in general have been attacked by anti-gay forces. We should support the businesses that are genuinely supporting us to help counter the attacks they get from anti-gay forces.
