The second session of our October series on cyber scams features guidance from the United States Attorney’s Office about Cryptocurrency Scams. Join AARP, host John Young, and fraud prevention expert Dave Marrow for an interactive conversation on how to avoid these scams.

Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and hundreds more are hot commodities in online trading. While it’s possible for an investor to make a profit, many people have experienced dramatic losses, some through bogus investment platforms touted by scammers as sure moneymakers. Cryptocurrency fraud has taken a quantum leap in recent years. The FTC says that in 2022, more than 53,000 people reported losing a total of more than $1.4 billion in crypto to scams.
