The experience of hundreds of years and numerous studies suggest that practicing the meditative movements and focused breathing of tai chi and qigong may have multiple beneficial effects on health, including helping to lower blood pressure and improve joint pain and reduce anxiety and stress. The goal of qigong is to enhance the body’s natural energy, or Qi.

In this monthly series, you’ll gain a better sense of the Eastern philosophy of health and healing, centered on the whole person. As part of the practice, Master Wu will present the Six Harmonies approach to achieving a healthier and more harmonious quality of being. The Six Harmonies refer to the integration of the body, mind, intention, energy (qi), vitality of spirit, and the manifestation of your liveliness. The goal is to achieve harmony within ourselves and with nature and our surroundings and to become more at one with the universe – resulting in less waste of our healing energy and a better chance of health and longevity.

Each month Master Wu will focus on one of the Six Harmonies embedded in the practice, ending the session with movements that you can practice until the next class. Please consult your physician before beginning any new exercise regimen.
