This online scam-prevention class, the second in a series, will explore how cryptocurrency romance scams and crypto refund swindles work.

Join AARP California and the California Department of Financial Protection & Innovation for Scam Chat Wednesdays throughout the month of August. Weekly virtual presentations by experts in fraud and scam prevention will describe the latest scams and offer guidance on how to keep your personal and financial information secure and protected.
This class will focus on how to protect yourself against cryptocurrency-related scams, including romance scams, in which a cybercriminal forges a phony relationship and tricks the person into handing over crypto assets, and refund scams, in which a scammer overpays for a product using stolen credit card numbers and requests a refund of the overpayment.
