Using Art for Personal Reflection

In this series, “Profiles in Creative Aging: Art for Personal Reflection” you’ll learn about the works of influential American artists and reflect on your own life, sparked by their art. A fresh and fun lens through which to conduct a “life review,” the life and works of these artists serve as a vehicle for learning about ourselves and inspiration for our own creative choices as elders. The second session continues our reflection on 19th-century landscape painter Thomas Cole, with a focus on his four-painting series “The Voyage of Life.”

This will be an interactive, image-filled series. No knowledge of art or art history is needed. Bring a journal or paper and something to write with, and be prepared for some quiet reflection about your own life as well as a deep dive into masterworks of art. You will need to register separately for each class you are interested in attending. Please note that you must be signed in to your AARP.org account or create an account to register for events.
