Using Art for Personal Reflection

The fifth session in this series on using art as a lens into our own lives features Theresa Bernstein.

In this series, “Profiles in Creative Aging: Art for Personal Reflection” you’ll learn about the works of influential American artists and reflect on your own life, sparked by their art. A fresh and fun lens through which to conduct a “life review,” the life and works of these artists serve as a vehicle for learning about ourselves and inspiration for our own creative choices as elders. The second session continues our reflection on 19th-century landscape painter Thomas Cole, with a focus on his four-painting series “The Voyage of Life.”

This will be an interactive, image-filled series. No knowledge of art or art history is needed. Bring a journal or paper and something to write with, and be prepared for some quiet reflection about your own life as well as a deep dive into masterworks of art. Other classes in the series will feature:

  • June 7: Georgia O’Keeffe - Invention and Reinvention
