Aging: Tap a Volunteer Driver
Learn how volunteer driving programs can make it possible to age in place.
AARP reports that 90% of adults want to “age in place,” or grow old in their home community and house. However, once seniors no longer drive, this isn't always possible. There are often limited public transportation options, and accessibility can be a barrier for older adults. Volunteer driving programs are one response often organized by neighborhoods participating in the village movement – residents form a community group to help members stay in their homes. This presentation will cover what volunteer driving programs provide and information on how to start a program in your neighborhood. Emily Braley, the presenter, is an RN and the manager of NV Rides.
