The Beatles, 50 Years Later

This is the first class of a three-part virtual series on the work of the Beatles, Bach and Beethoven.

Join AARP New York and lecturer Barry Wiesenfeld on a musical journey through the classical and pop landscape. This three-part series, The Three B’s of Music, will include the backgrounds and contributions of the Beatles, Bach and Beethoven and their influence on later musicians and composers. The traits they share might surprise you!

A respected musicologist once referred to The Beatles as “one of the most transforming entities of 20th century music” and claimed that they changed the course of popular music forever. What made them such a strong force that their music is still popular? We’ll explore their phenomenal growth, originality, musical innovations and lyric depth.
