Money Matters: Protecting Veterans and Service Members

Veterans and service members and their families often deal with unique challenges when it comes to consumer fraud protection, financial resilience and connecting to earned benefits. This conversation will focus on protecting them from criminal scammers preying on those who serve and is designed for professionals working in the elder justice and veterans space.

Providing support and education to organizations that serve veterans -- and to the population as a whole -- is vital. Connecting veterans to groups that are focused on supporting their needs is key, as well as training professionals and consumers on an ongoing basis to keep up with local and national trends.

Troy Broussard, senior advisor, AARP Office of Community Engagement (OCE), Veterans & Military Families Initiative, and Carol Kando-Pineda, counsel in the Division of Consumer and Business Education at the Federal Trade Commission, will lead the training.
