Grief and Loss: Embracing and Expressing Explosive Emotions

Gain insight on how to handle the powerful feelings – of rage, hatred, terror, blame – that often follow a devastating loss.

It’s normal to feel anger and other explosive emotions such as hate, blame, terror, resentment, rage and jealousy after the death of someone you love or after another significant life loss. Yet it’s challenging to experience these feelings day after day. And it can be hard to know what to do about them. Allowing them to seethe and build up inside you is not the answer. Neither is lashing out at people who care about you.

This webinar will explore how you can understand and express your anger and other explosive emotions in restorative ways. Learning to be with your anger and soothe it will help you on your healing journey in grief and give you tools for living the remainder of your days with less suffering and more joy.

This webinar is based on the work of Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D., who serves as the director of the Center for Loss and Life Transitions and is on the faculty of the University of Colorado Medical School’s Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Wolfelt is the author of books on healing and grief that include “Understanding Your Grief,” “Healing Your Grieving Heart” and “The Mourner’s Book of Hope.” Visit www.centerforloss.com to learn more.

Certified Grief Educator Garrick Colwell will facilitate this webinar. Garrick holds a Death and Grief Studies Certification from The Center for Loss and Life Transitions. He is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist and collaborates with Hospice Austin on developing innovative grief and bereavement support programs.
