Gardening: Cultivating Your Own Culinary Herbs

Learn how to grow herbs to spice up your healthy dishes – and complement your patio landscaping, too.

Growing seasonal herbs for health and the holiday table is the focus behind this gardening class. Cultivating a culinary herb garden is easy when you know herbs' climate and water needs. Basil and mint like lots of water and make great companion plants when they’re grown in the same container. Sage and thyme like their roots to be high and dry. Harvesting herbs for culinary use and teas helps to both preserve foods and support the immune system through herbs’ anti-bacterial properties. They make lovely patio and garden companion plants, too!
