Cooking Class: Explore Plant-Based Middle Eastern-Inspired Cuisine

Learn to make a Middle Eastern-inspired meal with Buffalo's own Chef Alexa!

Next up in our series on plant-based cooking with Chef Alexa: the Middle East. From North Africa to Asia, each country has its own unique flavors, spices and ingredients, including coriander, turmeric, saffron, garlic, cinnamon and cardamon, for starters. We'll also explore sumac, Aleppo pepper, mint, cumin, Ras el Hanout and Za'atar to enhance our Middle Eastern-inspired menu.

A plant-based diet focuses on natural, minimally-processed foods made from plants that meet our daily nutritional needs, and it encourages a healthy lifestyle. These classes will teach you the simple how-to’s of plant-based cooking: How to cook with different ingredients, how to substitute proteins and how to use various cooking methods to make your meal delicious. You will receive some great recipes for plant-based and vegan main dishes, sides, desserts and appetizers.

The goal is to make vegetables the star of the plate and provide flavorful dishes that are heart-healthy, high-fiber and low-sugar for healthy aging.
