Fitness: Experience the Power of Tai Chi Qigong

Learn to quiet your mind by bringing attention to your breath in this mind-body class led by American Council on Exercise (ACE)-certified instructor Mitch Menik.

Deep diaphragmatic breathing has been shown to lower blood pressure, reduce heart rate, decrease stress hormones, exercise the lungs, increase physical and mental energy, and improve immunity. This breathing technique is one of the body's strongest self-healing tools, and we'll practice utilizing it in these weekly sessions.

Tai Chi, a mind-body exercise consisting of gentle, flowing movements, helps strengthen the largest muscle groups in the body, which are used for walking and balance but are the first to atrophy as we age. It also may improve memory, thinking skills and resilience and help fight depression.

Mitch Menik, who also specializes in yoga and meditation as well as bone strengthening and stretching and balancing classes, primarily works with adults age 55 and older and holds an ACE Senior Fitness Specialist Certification and an ACE Orthopedic Exercise Specialist credential.

Participants of all experience levels and abilities are welcome. Please consult your physician before beginning any exercise program.
