This workshop provides resources for LGBTQ caregivers and allies to prepare to care for their loved ones. Join AARP Ohio, Stonewall Columbus and attendees from across the U.S. for a LGBTQ Prepare to Care Workshop on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. ET AARP membership not required.

We know that caring for a spouse, partner, close friend, or family member is one of the most important roles you’ll play. As our loved ones age it’s likely a matter of when, not if, they will need our help. When it comes to caring for a loved one, most families and families of choice don’t have a plan until a problem or crisis emerges. If your loved one identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, you will likely face extra challenges around caregiving.

The LGBTQ Prepare to Care Workshop focuses on giving LGBTQ caregivers and allies a framework to actively prepare for the care of their loved ones who may need support they haven’t planned for. You’ll have the opportunity to connect with other family caregivers, exchange tips and advice, and learn about resources available for you and your loved ones.
