Defying the NazisDirected by Ken Burns & Artemis Joukowsky USA | 90 minutes | 2016
The Miami Jewish Fil Festival concludes the fifth annual Screening the Holocaust Film Series with a special virtual presentation of Defying the Nazis, an inspiring documentary that's now available to stream for a limited time. Narrated by Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks, it tells the previously untold story of an American husband and wife who left their children behind and boldly committed to a life-threatening rescue mission in Europe during World War II. Over two dangerous years, they helped save scores of imperiled Jews fleeing Nazi occupation across Europe, for which they were later recognized at Yad Vashem as "Righteous Among the Nations."
